Shelly the Snail Pattern


Aww Shelly!
I made this cute little one for a swap a while ago and I had to make it again because it's so cute and the flowers make it really feel like summer

You will need:
Fibre Fill
Stitch Markers
5mm Safety eyes
Sewing needle
Small amounts of ww yarn in whatever colour you want your snail to be

Grass (e hook and fuzzy green yarn)
R1: 6sc in ring
R2: inc in every st around (12sc)
R3: sc in first, inc in next, rep around (18sc)
R4: sc in first 2, inc in next, rep around (24sc)
R5: sc in first 3, inc in next, rep around (30sc)
R6: sc in first 4, inc in next, rep around (36sc)
R7: sc in first 5, inc in next, rep around (42sc)
R8: sc in first 6, inc in next, rep around (48sc)
R9: sc in first 7, inc in next, rep around (54sc)
R10: sc in first8, inc in next, rep around (60sc)
Ss in next st and FO

Snail Body (e hook, stuff as you work)
R1: 6sc in ring
R2: inc in every st around (12sc)
R3: sc in first, inc in next, rep around (18sc)
R4: (antenna round) sc in first 3. Ch5, ss in next 4 chain, sc in next 4, ch5, ss in next 4 chain, sc to end.
R5-9: sc around
R10: sc in first 5, dec 5 times, sc to end
(place eyes between R8 and 9)
R11: sc in next 5, dec 3 times, sc to end
R12-30: sc around
R31: dec 3 times randomly around
R32-33: sc around
R34: dec 1, sc around
Rep R34, 4 times then dec until closed, FO

Shell (e hook)
R1: 6sc in ring
R2: inc every st around (12sc)
R3: sc in first, inc in next, rep around (18sc)
R4: sc around in back loops only
R5-9: sc around
R10: sc around, dec randomly 3 times (15sc)
R11-12: sc around
R13: sc around, dec randomly 2 times (13sc)
R14-17: sc around
R18: sc around, dec randomly 2 times (11sc)
R19-21: sc around
R22: sc around, dec randomly 2 times (9sc)
R23-25: sc around
R26: sc around, dec randomly 2 times (7sc)
R27-34: sc around
R35: dec 1, sc around (6sc)
R36-37: sc around
R38: dec 1, sc around (5sc)
R39-40: sc around
R41: dec 1 sc around (4sc)
Sc in next two then dec until closed, FO, leaving tail to sew, sew shell into a spiral and sew shell to body then body to grass.

Flowers
Ch3, ss in first chain to make ring
Ch 5, ss in ring (first petal done) rep until you have 5 petals, ss and FO
Leave tail to sew to grass

  1. LOL (I'm crocheting while stupid this a.m.!)

    Chose colors and began with shell color thinking I was doing the body. Never dawned on me until the flat section was all decreased at neck. (Oh, well - I'll do a 2nd one in opposite colors and blog the stupidity...)

    Went all the way to the tip of the tail and Fastened off. FORGOT to stuff head!!
    Maybe I can blame it on my head cold & yesterday's meds?

    try, try again will be today's motto!!
